On Sunday 22nd April the ladies squad travelled to Liverpool to meet the Wolfe Tones Ladies for the first time.

From the off our ladies proved that they were more than up for the physical challenge, Tones were hard hitting throughout but they were no match for the Barnababes.

Barnabas held possession very well in the first 5 minutes with Becky Hand taking her first score of the match shortly after, this gave the team the confidence boost they needed, there was some outstanding displays from half back’s Inez Gallagher, Aoife Greene and Lorraine Power. Becky continued to drive Barnabas forward with another 2 goals and a point in the first half, Lorraine, Pip and Orlaith also added to the goal and point tally in the first half.

Wolfe Tones had several breaks in the first half managing to take 3 points but with an outstanding save Kat Bell was set to achieve another clean sheet in goals.

There wasn’t much in the scoreline so it was imperative Barnabas remained focused in the 2 nd half. They started strongly and quickly fired another ball into the back of the net courtesy of Becky.

The back line remained solid throughout keeping Tones at bay, only managing to add another 2 points to their final score.

The ladies were delighted to get another win under their belt and are currently sitting at the top of the league, the team couldn’t have wished for a better start to the season.

Team: K Bell, E Gunning, N Lynch, U Colgan, A Greene, I Gallagher, N Robinson, O Donnelly (1-1) , P Billyeald (0-1), S Lonergan (0-1), L Power (1-1), N McTague(0-0), B Hand (4-2) G Boyle, Niamh Bourke,

We would like to take this opportunity to apologise for late notice at which our home came on Sunday 4 May was cancelled. This was through no fault of our own, we received notification around an hour before the game that unfortunately John Mitchels were unable to field for the game.

We apologise to all players who committed themselves to the game and also all supporters who attended.

The Seniors will get the points for the game.
